Georgetown Pain Management expertly integrates minimally invasive therapies for spine related pain syndromes and other causes of chronic pain using state-of-the-art techniques. Our goal is always to help patients avoid unnecessary surgery and physical dependence on powerful narcotics. We've included information below on many of the treatments we offer for our patients. As there are always new cutting-edge treatments available, the list below is not exhaustive.

SPINAL CARE

Our physicians are experts in the latest minimally-invasive interventions for neck, middle, and lower back pain. Treatment options include injections, radiofrequency ablations, and implantable therapies, including spinal cord stimulators, DRG stimulators, and intrathecal pumps. Kyphoplasty is offered as a treatment for vertebral compression fractures.

RESPONSIBLE OPIOID MANAGEMENT

Recognizing the need for chronic opioid analgesic therapy in appropriate patients, we follow all professional guidelines and offer the management of oral opioid analgesia in a safe, responsible, and compassionate fashion.

OPIOID-FREE PAIN MEDICINE

Many patients would like to avoid the use of powerful pain medicines called opioids and find other strategies to control their pain. We will work with patients patiently and empathetically to personalize their treatment plans to help them achieve their goals in their way.

ARTHRITIS AND JOINT PAIN

We offer therapies for pain in the shoulder, hips, and knees, both before and after surgery. We have special expertise in the management of knee pain that persists following surgery for knee replacement.

NERVE PAIN

For patients with nerve pain, including Chronic Regional Pain Syndrome (CRPS), Post-Herpetic Neuralgia, Painful Diabetic Neuropathy, or nerve damage following hernia repair, we offer cutting-edge multidisciplinary therapies to reduce their pain and improve their quality of life.

MEDICAL CANNABIS

We evaluate, counsel, and certify or recommend, when appropriate, residents of Maryland and the District of Columbia who suffer from chronic pain conditions for medical cannabis. Certification for Virginia's limited medical cannabis program is also available. For many patients, medical cannabis is an effective component of their pain treatment strategy. Please contact our office for more information about the State of Maryland or District of Columbia process that must be completed prior to evaluation.

KETAMINE INFUSIONS

We are one of the few practices in the Washington, DC area to offer monitored ketamine infusions for patients with both chronic pain and depression unable to be treated by other therapies. Infusions are monitor by both a Registered Nurse and a Board-Certified Anesthesiologist and are conducted in the comfort of our office.

CANCER PAIN

We often work closely with cancer patients and their oncologists to consult and treat cancer-related pain. Our goal is to reduce pain while minimizing adverse effects. We utilized both medications and procedures to appropriately treat pain in a way that is consistent with a patient's values and goals.

POST-SURGICAL PAIN AND DISCHARGE PLANNING

The successful transition of chronic pain patients from an inpatient or acute rehab setting back into the settings of their daily lives can be complex and difficult. We are happy to assist primary care physicians and hospitalists with this transition and to evaluate patients recently discharged from more acute settings and formulate personalized pain relief plans taking their goals into account.

ADDICTION IN PATIENTS WITH CHRONIC PAIN

We offer personalized treatment plans for patients suffering from both chronic pain and opioid addiction. We are licensed to prescribe Suboxone and are dedicated to offering excellent care to these patients with respect, compassion, and empathy.
